Circa 2010- Face your Fear!

Hello friends.......I hope you all are enjoying the weekend. I am so thankful for the sunshine today in London as we have been plagued with awful weather which seems to be delaying SPRING.

I just wanted to share with you some of my paintings I did back in 2010 when I started to paint in earnest for public consumption.

I have grown so much since then as an artist and therefore as a person. My journey as an artist has taught me so much about life....to live outside my comfort zone and face my fears. When I show my Paintings I hold my heart up for the world to see and therefore I am open to encouragement, support, delight , disappointment, criticism and compliment. I am more emotionally robust for putting myself through this experience time and time again.

It is a wonderful and enriching experience to face your fear , however small and conquer it! It sets you free and opens up a world of greater opportunity and prospects. While I have been painting for many many years I did so quietly and privately just for myself and loved ones..............and now I do it openly and freely and put it out here for the world to view.

So if you have a dream, desire or wish and fear is holding you back I encourage you to try to face it , head on and experience the elation and freedom it brings when conquered!

Fears I had and conquered-; using a computer, being on Facebook, uploading photos, making videos, flying, having children, abandonment.

Current fear I am conquering-; learning to drive! wish me luck.
If you faced any of your fears recently or in the past and would like to share, please do, as it may encourage others.

Very Best Wishes to you.....Chelsea.

Try something new!!-Clay

Clay- fun and frolic!Sometimes we need to try something new. I(unwillingly)agreed to do a group project for a special event this weekend. This  was so, mainly because I have a jam packed week and could  not forsee having the time to make and design one bead ( 1!) from scratch. So off I trotted to the nearest bookstore in the kids/crafts section to find clay to bake!

I have never really worked with clay in this way before, but once I got started....I could not stop. I only needed to make one bead, but ended up producing 13 wonderful creations.

cut and shape the clay- bake for 20 minutes

let cool, colour with various mediums

we used watercolour, pastels, nail polish, markers and gel pens.

And here -the almost finished product

These will be used as necklaces, beads to make a bracelet and keyrings.

I really found joy creating this mini zentangle design on this medallion pendant.

Watch this space for more details......plus a giveaway soon!! I have a little more work to do on these but boy it was such fun. My daughters and I had a wonderful Wednesday evening bonding over clay designing and painting. I wish you all a lovely week. I hope 2013 has started off positively, productively and full of joy and hope! Best Wishes-Chelsea.

Inspiration

As an artist I am often asked ...-"What inspires you Chelsea?" and my answer is always the LovE that keeps growing in me for my daughters. I paint and create from the heart with great emotion and motherhood fuels that creative drive. If you are a parent and you are reading this, then I am certain you can understand my reasoning. But I am also curious.....what Inspires you, what is it that fuels what you do? I am incredibly facinated by the word Inspiration...so tell me what Inspires you? I do not care what you do I just want to know what fuels it.....so tell me.I look forward to hearing from you. Handmade Heaven-Spread the love

It was damp and rainy last Saturday but that did not make a difference to us, we set off to support our
CRYSTAL PALACE HANDMADE MARKET .
It was wonderful to see all the yummy and luxurious handmade products on display for sale. It made me very proud to be part of the Handmade Movement.

We popped into L.W.S Bookshop at 68 Church Rd [Drop In and  Support this Charity Book Store!!] where some crafters were stationed.

The bonus of belonging to the creative community is that I get to meet wonderful creative types like me. I cannot help myself when I see something wonderful, a well made product, really brilliant customer service or a kind act, I have to share it with others. In this case it was these great creative women Please take a moment to check out their site and show them some love.

Allow me to kindly introduce to you ....

Friendly LoVe

This morning I will be taking photos of  jewellery I have been working on for my open house...While I am  doing this I thought I would share this lovely piece of painting  I did back in 2007.
It came about as a creative piece to remind me of how blessed I am to have such amazing and wonderful friends in my life.
One of My greatest pride are my Friends.........the family I was born into was not by my choice. The family I have created was not by their choice.
My friends are MY choice and a reflection of who I am! Thank you Friends for being Amazing Human Beings!!!

Can you relate to this ???? Do you have friends in your life that you think---'I am so fortunate to have this person in my life.!' please share..Chelsea

Coconut Trading- Review

http://www.coconuttrading.co.uk/carvings/carvings3/carv024a.jpg

A beautiful Saturday morning in South London. I am walking home with my daughters after a swimming class and felt myself drifting into a local store- Coconut Trading. Now this store is one of those you pass by and always tell yourself " I must stop by soon". As time goes by you keep passing the store and still have not managed to make it through the front door. Well today I mystically managed be on the other side of the door and was awakened to a sense of upliftment. Firstly as I walked in, there was incense burning accompanied by musical notes from Thailand wafting magically all through the store. All the products were well displayed with clearly and beautifully hand written price tags. On display were hand made cards, jewellery, silk scarves, hand made journals, wood carvings, handbags. it was hand made heaven for every pocket!!! beautiful items which make wonderful gifts for every age!  But really what makes this experience extra special is the staff on hand that add the personal human touch. Perry and Cecilia are so welcoming and knowledgeable about their products that they add so much value to your experience to the store. I would highly recommend this store and the products within. Although they have a website, it is worth popping into the store to see the massive range of products and experience the atmosphere within.

Featured!!!! on Tiger Tales!!!

Wow!!! I just did this post below and then discovered Erin Balfour and I were in a feature over at Tiger Tales

Here is the feature post!!

Thank you so very much ..I am humbled and touched by the time you have taken to do this post so beautifully and thoughtfully.

I'm cheerful this week because:
  1. I have the freedom to speak my mind
  2. I can wear what I want when I want how I want
  3. I can go out unaccompanied by my husband
  4. I have a happy loving communicative marriage
  5. I had the benefit of 15 minutes to myself yesterday to visit the LWS Cafe in Crystal Place for cup of tea and to view the art work on display to commemorate International Women's Day. The work that touched me were pieces done by Chelsea Art Designs and Mrs Balfour.

From left to right Matron, Maiden, Mother

Using the warm colours reds, yellows, oranges, gold and bronze the three pieces done by Chelsea celebrates the three stages of womanhood: maiden, mother and matron with the pagan symbols for these stages at the heart of the work. All three pieces were painted onto images of women of various ethnic origin and from all 'walks of life'. Naturally the image of mother spoke to me. I wish my image below did it justice (taken with mobile phone)

Mother

I absolutely adored the piece by Mrs Balfour, which was one made in 2009. The statement on the piece struck a chord with me, its reads 'I didn't mean to lose my heart'. The piece haunted me, but in a good way. I love it!

7. I'm cheerful because as I sat in theLWS Cafe yesterday, I was happy to see other women:  friends, mothers and colleagues sitting, chatting laughing freely together.

Have a great weekend!
