Inspiration

As an artist I am often asked ...-"What inspires you Chelsea?" and my answer is always the LovE that keeps growing in me for my daughters. I paint and create from the heart with great emotion and motherhood fuels that creative drive. If you are a parent and you are reading this, then I am certain you can understand my reasoning. But I am also curious.....what Inspires you, what is it that fuels what you do? I am incredibly facinated by the word Inspiration...so tell me what Inspires you? I do not care what you do I just want to know what fuels it.....so tell me.I look forward to hearing from you. Affordable Art- Rewind

My Artist Open House has been a success. The day has come and gone and I am truly exhausted, I had been working non stop for a month to make the day a success and ensure everyone had a lovely time and it paid off. The feedback was very positive and all those who attended walked away with something handmade and unique. 

 I wanted to share these photos of my paintings with you. I would love to hear your feedback but for now I must bake a cake for my daughter who turns 7 tomorrow.

Coconut Trading- Review

A beautiful Saturday morning in South London. I am walking home with my daughters after a swimming class and felt myself drifting into a local store- Coconut Trading. Now this store is one of those you pass by and always tell yourself " I must stop by soon". As time goes by you keep passing the store and still have not managed to make it through the front door. Well today I mystically managed be on the other side of the door and was awakened to a sense of upliftment. Firstly as I walked in, there was incense burning accompanied by musical notes from Thailand wafting magically all through the store. All the products were well displayed with clearly and beautifully hand written price tags. On display were hand made cards, jewellery, silk scarves, hand made journals, wood carvings, handbags. it was hand made heaven for every pocket!!! beautiful items which make wonderful gifts for every age!  But really what makes this experience extra special is the staff on hand that add the personal human touch. Perry and Cecilia are so welcoming and knowledgeable about their products that they add so much value to your experience to the store. I would highly recommend this store and the products within. Although they have a website, it is worth popping into the store to see the massive range of products and experience the atmosphere within.

Featured!!!! on Tiger Tales!!!

Wow!!! I just did this post below and then discovered Erin Balfour and I were in a feature over at Tiger Tales

Thank you so very much ..I am humbled and touched by the time you have taken to do this post so beautifully and thoughtfully.

I'm cheerful this week because:

1. I have the freedom to speak my mind 
2. I can wear what I want when I want how I want
3. I can go out unaccompanied by my husband
4. I have a happy loving communicative marriage
5. I had the benefit of 15 minutes to myself yesterday to visit the LWS Cafe in Crystal Place for cup of tea and to view the art work on display to commemorate International Women's Day. The work that touched me were pieces done by Chelsea Art Designs and Mrs Balfour.

Using the warm colours reds, yellows, oranges, gold and bronze the three pieces done by Chelsea celebrates the three stages of womanhood: maiden, mother and matron with the pagan symbols for these stages at the heart of the work. All three pieces were painted onto images of women of various ethnic origin and from all 'walks of life'. Naturally the image of mother spoke to me. I wish my image below did it justice (taken with mobile phone)

I absolutely adored the piece by Mrs Balfour, which was one made in 2009. The statement on the piece struck a chord with me, its reads 'I didn't mean to lose my heart'. The piece haunted me, but in a good way. I love it!

7. I'm cheerful because as I sat in theLWS Cafe yesterday, I was happy to see other women:  friends, mothers and colleagues sitting, chatting laughing freely together.

You might know Chelsea's artwork from her amazing use of colour and motion. Her themes, revolving around her emotions seem to strike a chord with anyone who views them afar, often drawing people in to take a closer look. She was one of the artists in the LWS July Art Exhibition and currently takes commissions. Her work at the cafe is also for sale.
