Coconut Trading- Review

http://www.coconuttrading.co.uk/carvings/carvings3/carv024a.jpg

A beautiful Saturday morning in South London. I am walking home with my daughters after a swimming class and felt myself drifting into a local store- Coconut Trading. Now this store is one of those you pass by and always tell yourself " I must stop by soon". As time goes by you keep passing the store and still have not managed to make it through the front door. Well today I mystically managed be on the other side of the door and was awakened to a sense of upliftment. Firstly as I walked in, there was incense burning accompanied by musical notes from Thailand wafting magically all through the store. All the products were well displayed with clearly and beautifully hand written price tags. On display were hand made cards, jewellery, silk scarves, hand made journals, wood carvings, handbags. it was hand made heaven for every pocket!!! beautiful items which make wonderful gifts for every age!  But really what makes this experience extra special is the staff on hand that add the personal human touch. Perry and Cecilia are so welcoming and knowledgeable about their products that they add so much value to your experience to the store. I would highly recommend this store and the products within. Although they have a website, it is worth popping into the store to see the massive range of products and experience the atmosphere within.

Stuck On You- Prodcut Review!

Owls are my favourite nocturnal animals. I spent one evening some months ago trying my hand at drawing and sketching a few ..along with some birds
One of my quick sketches of an animated owl
I adore little colourful birds.. ;another of my quick drawing
My attempt at sketching a  Barn Owl!
And ...my lovely birds on branches.......On this note, as mentioned in my previous post I am member of Britmums -Working with Brands Group. After viewing the Stuck On You  website with the amazing range of simply wonderful products, I put myself forward to review an item . I was delighted to be selected as a reviewer with Erin. We were requested to  review  their personalized short summer pyjamas.
I simply had to chose this one (above) on the Stuck On You website http://www.stuckonyou.co.uk

I was drawn to the range of designs on offer . They are colourful, bright, engaging, cute  and adorable. I especially liked the designs featuring  -owls- birds -birdhouses-flowers and animals.
I must say...it was difficult deciding on a design as I adore owls as mentioned and there were quite a handful of Owl designs in the range to choose from.  This one stood out because it represented my daughters and  I cuddled  in bed with me in the middle reading stories at bedtime with them.
From a design aspect I love them all.
Once I chose the design the Pyjamas were then posted out to us.
It arrived just in time too because summer has  finally come to London!
After weeks and weeks of rain we have been having glorious sun / heat wave, so Erin is only keen to wear as little as possible in the form of teeny tiny dresses.
I was relived that she actually like wearing the PJ's; little did I know she would wear it for days on end.http://www.stuckonyou.co.uk/personalised-baby-kids-clothing/short-pyjamas/pyjamas.
In my opinion the pyjamas are of high quality thick, stretchy, soft and  cotton -my favourite fabric, especially for the kids

The proof in the comfortable wear of the stuck on you short summer pyjamas for Erin is clear to experience this go to - http://www.stuckonyou.co.uk/personalised-baby-kids-clothing/short-pyjamas/pyjamas.html
They are quality made and 100% cotton. Each top can be personalised with a child's name with over 30 gorgeous designs to choose from. The bottoms are available in navy or pink and white stripes. They are super soft and super snugly. (RRP 24.95)

Erin Is finally comfortably asleep..
Note -At the back inside of the pyjama top is written " to wear me for as long possible, please machine wash me on a cold, gentle setting. Be careful!!!do not bleach or tumble dry...ouch iron me with a warm iron but please Never iron directly onto my cute print design. 98%Cotton 2% Elastane."
https://mail-attachment.googleusercontent.com/attachment/u/0/?ui=2&ik=9d5c62023a&view=att&th=137900498b6f5598&attid=0.3&disp=inline&safe=1&zw&saduie=AG9B_P8I7Zwfy46obV0MYsPb0bo0&sadet=1338193570197&sads=7LMJ3A2y3gMAB5U2r3nQPVB-bTU&sadssc=1
The morning after..Erin is still a happy customer.
The pyjama did not wrinkle or stretch out of shape

She did not wish to take them off- so she wore it to take her big sister to school, and to the park and to play group and then had her nap. We are now 3 days in and she refuses to take it off (arrh) that is the only drawback about this product. She has gotten very attached to it.
To have a completed review I would have loved to wash and iron the product and express how it stands up to it first wash but Erin is still in the pyjama.
I thought for the purpose of the review I would see how many days she would push for it but I think after her nap today it simply has to be laundered before someone reports me to Social Services.
I would certainly recommend Stuck On You if you are on the look out for a personalised gift, name labels, clothing labels for kids, and school .

Review -Half day Jewellery course @ CA Jewellry school

As an artist, I love painting, however I am above all things a woman and adore pretty things.I love dressing up (always have) and I have tried creating a few accessories in my time but never did a course so..It was with great excitement  that I woke up last Saturday morning and trotted off [ I literally skipped all the way]to my gifted ( thank you again NCS) Half day introductory jewellery making coursehttp://clairearistidesjewelleryschool.co.uk/#/beginners-workshops/4543234323

One of the beautiful things about this course is the wonderful women I got to spend 4 glorious hours with being creative. everyone was charming, helpful and very encouraging. Thank you to all the women for making my rare day out very special indeed!!
Hosted by the C A Jewellery  school- the course which took place in Convent Garden. There were about 30 eager women of all ages there to learn a new skill or just try something new. The atmosphere was friendly, warm and welcoming.  I took my place at a table, which already had the tools I needed laid out with all the findings and beads and such. The instructors were on hand to talk us through every step, offer personal assistance and direction with appropriate use of the tools. I am  tactile by nature, so I was in heaven with all the different textures of the materials on hand to create my pieces.

Here is a view of some the beads we used to create our pieces
metallic  and fresh water effect pearls

These were so lovely- fabric covered flower patterned beads.

I chose these beads and bead caps to make my bracelet

My tools came in this bag and consisted of a Round Nose Plier, Flat Nose Plier and Side/Wire Cutter.

The course was 4 hours with a 30 minute break - after the break we had to make a necklace- this is my creation

My Bracelet

a closer view

I enjoyed using mixed findings to give this delicate looking piece an edge

I am really pleased with the result

I really adore the silver and gold mix  bead caps, it gives the necklace an eclectic flavor

Earrings I made later on  that day
side view of my pride and joy
I would highly recommend this course - I think it is very good value and a great way to invest in your hobby. It is also a great way spend 4 hours with a dear friend and would make a wonderful present for some one creative in your life. I have since made 15 pieces in one day and I was in total bliss because I knew what I was doing and felt confident about my new learned skill!!Best Wishes- Chelsea.

Introducing Tilly @silverserivce

My beautiful wings- hand carved bone by the beautiful Tilly @ Silver Service.http://www.silverservicejewellery.co.uk/

It is not often that I get the chance to venture out into the city..... with the added bonus of spoiling myself with a guilt free purchase just for me, not for the kids or the home.....  for ME!

So off I trotted to the Spirit of Summer fair in London on Friday. This being the first time I attended I checked on-line to see what I was in for. There were photos displaying the different exhibitors and events to expect...but when I laid eyes on the picture above.....

.....so I told myself 'SELF' that is nice... that is very nice, I must pop by her booth and have a look.
A look.. mind you turned into a rare purchase. It was so delicately made! ( not a word usually associated with bone but it is honestly) . I rationalized to myself that I must have it must and based this on all hard work I do being a good mother and wife and told myself... 'SELF'.. if my husband were here he would surely get it for me . So I did what I felt I should do ......whipped out my card and swiped away.... with not an ounce of guilt looming in the air I knew it had to be. And here she is...' a bargain for only £25.00! if you love and appreciate unique high quality hand crafted jewellery...you must check out Tilly's site.
what a beauty
so delicate
My newly favorite piece

Introducing....Claire Stratton..

I am a huge fan of handmade goods and equally a huge fan of Claire Stratton Jewellery Collection {view above and below for fine examples her distinctive work}. All Original pieces, all hand made, all beautiful and made with the finest materials. They are weighty and you automatically feel the value for money on your hand when trying on one her pieces. Please check out her work on her website below.
www.clairestratton.co.uk

Claire Stratton has developed her distinctive style of jewellery over the past two decades, out of a background in Fine Art (Goldsmiths’ College, London). There has always been a sculptural sensibility to her work, with a strong affinity for form, light effects and colour. Her jewellery skills were honed at Sir John Cass and Morley College, and she holds a diploma in gemmology from the Gemmological Association of Great Britain.

She made her first collections in the early nighties, whilst living in rural Andalucia, selling through Electrum Gallery and Harvey Nichols. On returning to London in 1996, she opened her own shop in Clapham, where she created a strong following for her work. She has also sold her work through Liberty and Paul Smith. She now lives and runs her studio in rural Gloucestershire, whilst maintaining regular links with London.

Claire is best known for her rings – intimate objects which tell the stories of our lives – “symbolic of loved ones, unions, turning points and celebratory events – small sculptures we carry around with us in our every day lives, testaments to our journeying.”

Gold, silver and gemstones are brought to life in unusual gatherings. A star sapphire may nestle quietly amidst bud and leaf. Or a spinel may shout ‘pink!’ from a cluster of emerging forms. Either way, each ring holds a character of its own, and will attract a like-minded soul.

She also makes necklaces, earrings and bracelets – ranging from the simple and tactile to the sculptural and talismatic.
